Lagniappe

What's "lagniappe" and why do I want it? "Lagniappe" (lan-yap) is a common term in New Orleans, meaning 'a little something extra'- usually from a merchant to a customer to show appreciation.

As NOLA was my home for almost a decade and my mother's birthplace, it was a common term in my household. Essentially, lagniappe is a New Orleans term for a free gift.
