Smoked 66% Nicaraguan Dark Chocolate + Bruleed Sugar Shards & Salt

The perfect balance of sweet with a touch of smoke (cold smoked nibs, yum!), paired beautifully with some bruleed sugar. A nod to some of our favorite desserts, namely creme brulee and bananas foster.

Inspired by banana's foster & trips to New Orleans

Organic Cocoa butter, Organic cane sugar, whole milk powder, organic sunflower lecithin, organic poppyseeds, lemon oil, vanilla extract.

Origin Story

One summer in college, my dad and I took a trip south to New Orleans where the jazz music hums through the streets whether or not anyone is playing, and where you can pick up 'cracklins' or crawfish on the side of the road.

We took the backroads through tiny towns whose restaurant delicacy remains a humble ham sandwich with mayonnaise. By the time you get to NOLA, the food scene evolves into arguably one of the most remarkable in the country. Fortunately for me, when my family eats out there's one meal we don't skip: dessert.

Whether we're pot bellied full and laughing with too many glasses of wine, we'll always make room for something sweet. So when my dad and I decided to have breakfast on our last day in the French Quarter, we eagerly ordered banana's foster. A dessert made for good showmanship, and apparently also welcome at the breakfast table.

Reminisce your bold food memories and enjoy the showmanship of this smoked Bananas-Foster vibe chocolate topped with shards of caramelized sugar and salt.

Why You'll Love It

"You Make Chocolate That People Want to Eat." - said one of our loyal customers who is also a chocolate aficionado. It was an unexpected compliment, and we stand by it. We make chocolate that you and your friends will want to eat. It simply tastes really good.

It's Not Your Typical Chocolate Bar – which means it's arguably 1000% better than any mass-produced brand you'd find in major stores today. Why? Because of our process. We'll tell you why below:

It's Hand Crafted - i.e. not mass produced. Our products go through a lot of human hands to turn the cocoa beans into bars...and beyond. From our human attention to detail combined with our sourcing of high quality ingredients, craft matters and makes it worth every melt-in-your-mouth bite.

Organic Ingredients –All of our chocolate products are made with primarily organic ingredients. If not certified, we are buying ingredients that are farmed organically (sometimes without certification), or which partake in biodynamic farming practices to protect the environment.

Ethically-sourced – produced from hand picked cacao, our cocoa beans are always sourced from farms where we know farmers receive at or above fair trade wages. Transparency in our industry is primary and paramount to making the cocoa supply chain more equitable.

Sustainability – Our chocolate bar wrappers are made from recyclable paper, and the inside "plastic" is biodegradable/compostable. Our glass jars & tins for drinks and snacks are easy to use and re-use. Please reuse and recycle our packages when possible.

About the maker

Markham and Fitz

Lauren, with a background in cultural anthropology and French, spent 5 years working in grassroots economic development in war torn countries where she saw business as a force of good and encountered her first cacao farm. Driven to make a positive difference in the cacao supply chain, she leads the company's strategy, creative direction, and product development as the sole proprietor and CEO.

Marchand and Fitz values celebration and restoration. We seek to celebrate people and the cocoa bean, and to restore our supply chain and the earth one chocolate bar at a time.

They do this through sustainable practices like a (near)zero waste initiative, compostable and recyclable packaging; through investing in transparency in their supply chain and higher quality cocoa beans.
