Simplicity is one of Olibanum’s pillars. Every scent is centered around olibanum (also known as frankincense), a resin from the Boswellia Sacra tree. Olibanum is often considered the original perfume as its been used for sacred and secular purposes since millenia.

Oud: Sensual woods wrapped in an intense rose, like a line of kohl. THE DETAIL THAT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE? Pimento berry, the steamy spice that makes rose, oud and olibanum twist and twirl.

What's Oud? The fragrant resin produced by certain trees of the Aquilaria genus to protect themselves against the spread of a fungus named Philiaphora Parasitica. Used in India and the Arabian Peninsula since ancient times, oud appears in the Bible as a funeral perfume while in China, this "eagle wood" is still used in traditional medicine to activate the circulation of qi. Now threatened by overexploitation, its cultivation, sale and use are rigorously controlled. The oud we use has a CITES certificate, guaranteeing that its production and sale do not harm the conservation of biodiversity and is based on the sustainable use of wild speciesific ambrette is a plant related to the hibiscus whose leaves contain fragrant seeds.

Formulas are elaborated with ethical natural ingredients, clean synthetic molecules and organic alcohol made in France. When possible, natural raw materials come from conservation and/or giving back programs. The bottles are made of a glass that is 40 % lighter, which means less material required for production along with a reduction in emissions, logistics and transportation. The boxes are made of recycled cardboard, are recyclable, unaltered, unbleached and unvarnished. Even glues and water-based ink used in packaging are solvent-free.

About the maker

Olibanum

Olibanum's commitment has been the implementation of an operation aiming to help a Samburu community in Kenya. The Samburu are semi-nomadic and in order to live, they first and foremost need financial autonomy.
That's why they funded a milk pasteurizer, hand in hand with L’Homme et l’Environnement and Gazelle Harambee charities. The community has since been able to produce their goats’ milk and sell it to a nearby elephant calves orphanage.
Olibanum strives to minimize their environmental impact even in their perfume oils. They work with partners who ensure them the best qualities of raw materials, from an olfactive but also sustainable standpoint.
